OSWP Mini-Grant Opportunity

The Ohio Sheep and Wool Program (OSWP), Ohio’s lamb and wool check-off program has initiated a matching mini-grant program to make Ohio check-off dollars available to organizations, associations, or companies that want to get extra funds to promote, educate or research lamb.

This mini-grant program focuses on the OSWP Vision, which states: Profitability, A unified, thriving American and Ohio Lamb Industry that concentrates it resources around a prioritized and measurable plan that fosters the opportunity for all contributors.
And the OSWP mission: Value, To increase the value of American and Ohio lamb for all segments contributing to the Ohio Sheep and Wool Program.
The OSWP Mini-grant Matching Grant program was designed to fund projects and activities that promote Ohio Lamb and further the goals and objectives of the Ohio Sheep and Wool Program. The Ohio Sheep and Wool Program strongly encourages that all projects and activities are a collaborative partnership between the lamb check-off, the non-profit industry organization or association, and other industry partners such as suppliers, first-handlers, retailers, promotions and festivals, research and education entities, and foodservice operator’s, etc.
The Ohio Sheep and Wool Program is a MANDATORY check-off program that collects check-off dollars from Ohio Sheep Producers when ever sheep, lambs and wool is sold by an Ohio producer. The Ohio Sheep and Wool Program Board felt that this is one way that we can give the money back to the people that are providing the funds for the program.
This mini-grant program is a matching program, so the sponsoring organization must have funds or in-kind support available to be able to apply for the mini-grant. Primary organizations, association’s, or companies include: County Sheep and Lamb Associations, Local and State Purebred Associations, Local and State Club Lamb Associations, Direct-marketing Associations, Research and Extension Education Entities, and Lamb Retailers.
The Ohio Sheep and Wool Program is making $5,000.00 available for the remainder of the 2006 fiscal year, which ends October 31, 2006. We hope to be able to assist in funding several lamb activities with this years-budgeted amount.
