Ohio Lamb and Wool Queen
The Ohio Lamb and Wool Queen serves as a spokesperson for the industry throughout her year of reign at numerous promotional events and activities around the state. The queen is selected by judges at the Ohio State Fair. The 2012-12 Queen will be selected by judges on Sunday July 29, 2012. All applications need to be postmarked by July 5, 2012. Contestants will attend an interview and answer an impromptu question from a panel of judges live at the conclusion of the Guys and Gals lead competition. The selection of the queen is based on personality, presentation, poise, knowledge of the Ohio Lamb and Wool industry and participation in the Guys and Gals Lead competition. Applications will be available in early 2012.

We encourage all ladies between the ages of 17-21 who are involved in the industry to consider applying for this position. This is a terrific opportunity to build a wealth of knowledge of the Ohio Lamb and Wool Industry and expand communication skills and network within Ohio agriculture. All applications need to be postmarked by July 5, 2011.

Meghan Bennett, the 2011-12 Lamb & Wool Queen

The 2011- 2012 Ohio Lamb and Wool Queen is Meghan Lynn Bennett.  She is the daughter of Jim and Melissa Bennett of Houston located in Shelby County.

Meghan will be a 10 year 4-H member of the Equus Unlimited 4-H Club. She has served as her club’s secretary, treasurer, and news reporter. She is also active on her county’s Junior Fairboard and is a member of the Executive Committee.  Meghan is the head of Dairy and Demonstrations Departments, as well as being a member of the Rabbit Committee.  She serves as a member of the Shelby County 4-H Advisory Committee. Meghan has also been a delegate for the Citizenship Washington Focus program and Buckeye Girls State. She enjoys being active at school by participating on the varsity tennis, basketball, and softball teams, as well as being a member of the Mock Trial Team, SAAC, and National Honor Society. 

Meghan has been involved with lambs since the age of five when her mother bought her feeder lambs to play within the pasture. She has participated in numerous market lamb shows throughout her years of showing including the Shelby County Fair, the Ohio State Fair, and the North American International Livestock Exposition. Meghan loves working out in the barn with her brother Pierce and is the fourth generation on the family farm.
Meghan will be an upcoming senior at Lehman Catholic High School. She plans on furthering her education by majoring in Agriculture Communications and attending either Oklahoma State University or the Ohio State University.
